Straight pipe either side of pump

How much does the length of straight pipe on either side of the circulator matter?
Specifically coming out of the boiler buddy and into the brass distribution manifold
1-1/2 copper in & out of a 007 pump.
Thank You
Tim

straight pipe
One book I've read by a well known heating guru in the industry suggests 12 pipe diameters of straight pipe upstream of a pump, and 4 pipe diamters downstream, but I think most in the industry practice about 4-6 pipe diameters upstream and "who cares" downstream, or so it seems. There was an error rendering this rich post.
