Local TV station asked people to vote on top news story of decade. One respondent actually said that the death of Michael Jackson was more important than 9/11. I can only shake my head in wonder. Absolute wonder.

    Was 9/11 News

    To me that wasn't news. We all lived every second of it. It was a historic time in our lives. An event that will never be forgotten. To me  news is something that we all are not aware of. The biggest news of the decade to me was Madoff. The impact of what he did had an impact on more lives ten fold. It had such an impact on our economy that it's effect is still being felt today. Yes, the 9/11 victims families will never forget and neither will I but my vote goes to the Madoff scam.

    It's 9/11. Most people watched events unfold on the news. What you saw and didn't see was decided by newspeople. Madoff did a lot of damage but he didn't murder 3,000 people, instigate two wars, etc. I think you're overstating Madoff's impact. He probably did help screw up the Mets though, so off with his head!

    Is not to discuss politics. I respect those rules so I have to forgive my  full rebuttal. I will say, what happend on 9/11 was a tragedy for American but across the world was no different then the bombing of embassys or the bombing of market places in other parts of the world. What Madoff did had an impact on individuals, charity's, businesses and governments across the world.

    News of the decade was 911. If it were not for the News media how long would it have been before the WORLD knew what had happend. Thats how I heard it happend. Unless you were on wall street when it took place, thats how everyone else heard about it through the News Media.
