Do water baseboard heat systems ever share hot water with the tap hot water?

Hi,
I live in an older home and from what I can tell it looks like the hot water from the baseboard heating system is shared with the hot water that comes out of the tap.
If the heat has been on for a considerable period of time sometimes the hot water runs out quickly. This alone makes me think that the hot water that comes out of the tap must also be the same water which is circulating in the pipes but I'd like to know for certain.
Thanks!
David

I hope not
If you turn on the hot water tap without cold water you would get instantly burnt. What type of boiler do you have? Does the boiler have a hot water coil in it? Take a few pics and post. There was an error rendering this rich post.
