have purged cold water from radiator vent.

plan on disconnecting radiator and flushing the radiator

looking for successful way of flushing the cast iron radiator, assuming

How many other radiators on that zone?

Where is the boiler located?  In the basement as well?

There could be air in the piping leading to the radiator, especially if the pipes are above the basement radiator.
    8.33 lbs./gal. x 60 min./hr. x 20°ΔT = 10,000 BTU's/hour

Two btu per sq ft for degree difference for a slab

    What he said

I piped a boiler last year and the basement apartment had no heat twice. Third time I realized because the pipes rose to the boiler room ceiling from the boiler, then down to the CIBBs, I made a long air trap that did a great job of collecting air that was not caught in the Honeywell Not So Supervent. Even though it would purge out, it collected there. A vent cut into the line solved the problem, and yes I had hot water on both sides of that loop.

Just a guy running some pipes.
