start date for warranties?

just had a honeywell zone valve end switch fail. installed it about 11 months ago and assumed it would be covered under 1 year honeywell warranty. supplier informed me that that warranty clock starts ticking when I purchased it (1 yr + 1 week ago, of course), not when its installed. to their credit, they did honor this "just this time".

til now I've always reported my install dates when making warranty claims and never been questioned that I can recall. I'd like to think I'm providing my customers materials subject to a full manufacturer warranty, not one that's been diminished by the time somethings been in my inventory. I'm sure there are many items which would have no warranty left for the consumer if my inventory time is taken into account.

anyone else have experience on this front?

    Unless

I turn in something particularly old, say more than 2 years based on date code, never been questioned.

    Honeywell Warranty

The warranty on zones valves is 18 months from date it was shipped to the wholesaler. They give an extra 6 months for self life.

There was an error rendering this rich post.
