We have just installed an electric steam boiler along side an exsisting low pressure gas boiler. The electric boiler is a Fulton FB300 or 30hp high pressure boiler. We have set it up to run at low pressure. My question is will we have a problem going through the 2" exit opening (it would be 3" on a simalar low pressure model) if we bell up imediately to a 4" pipe? After 3 feet it goes into a 6" main. We were going to use a Pressure reducing station and run it at 30psi but that put us into high pressure status and cerification issues for our operators. Beside that the cost of a the PR station was outside of our range. We have clearance from the state inspector to put the pressure relief valve imediately outside the boiler on the 4" pipe. The boiler water makeup is by a pump from a condesate tank from the exsiting system.
