heating for a finish basement

I am going to finish my basement, but I am having trouble to figure out how to install the heating for that space. My house has a gas steam boiler and I think I can do a hot water baseboard for the basement using the same boiler. I need help understanding the piping for the baseboards and how to make the boiler a two zone, one for the steam with it's own thermostat (already in place) and the second as hot water heating also with their own thermostat. Or I can do a total independent system for the basement using a hot water tank . I don't know which way to go in order to get some efficiency also.
If anyone knows how I can illustrated myself about this project or if there is another alternative to heat the basement, please let me know. As always thank you for the replies

Baseboard
running a zone off the boiler is fairly straight forward but I always say depends on the condition and size of the boiler. If you search the site I think there are several diagrams for running it. It all depends on how efficent you want it and how big is the basement.Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

size
Depending how oversized the steam boiler is, you may need to add a control [relay] to shut the basement zone on a call for steam.0 -
