heating for a finish basement

I am going to finish my basement, but I am having trouble to figure out how to install the heating for that space. My house has a gas steam boiler and I think I can do a hot water baseboard for the basement using the same boiler. I need help understanding the piping for the baseboards and how to make the boiler a two zone, one for the steam with it's own thermostat (already in place) and the second as hot water heating also with their own thermostat. Or I can do a total independent system for the basement using a hot water tank . I don't know which way to go in order to get some efficiency also.

If anyone knows how I can illustrated myself about this project or if there is another alternative to heat the basement, please let me know. As always thank you for the replies

Baseboard

running a zone off the boiler is fairly straight forward but I always say depends on the condition and size of the boiler. If you search the site I think there are several diagrams for running it. It all depends on how efficent you want it and how big is the basement.

Depending how oversized the steam boiler is, you may need to add a control [relay] to shut the basement zone on a call for steam.
