Where can one purchase replacement parts for radiator shutoff valves (angle valves)? I have a number of 1" and 1 1/4" valves that need new seat gaskets.

valve parts
i assume this is a 1-pipe system?
i consider these valves to be like the appendix, there but useless. they should always be wide open, and in my opinion, never closed. i would suggest leaving them as they are, as long as they will fully open.
there are other ways to reduce the flow to a radiator, such as thermostatic relief vents, which allow a lower temperature to be set at which the air in the radiator is prevented from leaving, stopping the steam fro entering.
if you have 2-pipesteam, the option is to replace the valve, unless you can match up the valve by finding the mfg's name on the old one. these valves come as complete assemblies-the valve and the "spud", the pipe screwed into the radiator. removing the old spud as it is not interchangeable with that of another make of valve, is a chore!!--nbc0
