Analyzer calibration fees,,,

Options
Sent my analyzer in for calibration( I will not mention the make), the estimated fee seemed kinda high,,, so with some help from a good friend ;-) an adjustment was made to the better!

Anyway,,, I was just curious when you guy`s draw a line in the sand regarding replacement,, or paying another calibration fee(every 6 months) on the tool?

Sooner or later you can have the cost of the unit tied-up in these fees.

What do you do??

Thanks!

Pass the cost on to the consumer...

    It's only fair.

I add $30.00 instrumentation fee every time I break out ANY of my technical instrumentation. That covers the cost of batteries, calibration and eventual replacement of wear components, like O2 sensors, CO sensors etc.

I agree with Mark. His idea of charging an "Instrumentation Fee" makes good sense. Passing this cost along to the customer is quite reasonable.

if you are using instrumentation that needs regular outside (official) calibration, have it done and keep the paperwork carefully filed. I'm not in the heating business but have had some experience in the instrumentation area. There is a thing called "due diligence" and if you haven't covered yourself by doing the required instrumentation maintenance, (no matter`how "mickey mouse" and unnecessary ), you are opening up a situation that a shyster lawyer loves and one in which your liability insurance might not cover. if you ever have to go to court, your calibration records show you are a conscientious professional and can save you, if you don't have records, you'll get hung out to dry.

  • Oh, I agree with Mark too,,,,

and I do charge extra for my instruments,,,,,

Was just wondering if there is a money-point where you decide to retire-it and buy another.

    Thanks again,,,

    Calibration and repairs

We have 55 Bacharach Pro 125's. For that reason I do all my own work: Calibration and repairs. We have a few spare of everything so when the techs have a problem they just come in and swap out, no down time. If you have one or two it may not be worth it.

    Here's my calibration set up.

Just had a Bacharach Class Tonight

I just got home from hosting a Bacharach Class tonight. They have a new program call the Smart Program. Cost is $197.00 for 2yrs. They send you the calibration equip and co sensor along with a calibration cert each year. That is less than 100 bucks a year. 10 customers at 10 bucks a yr pays for it.
