good evening. i just received a new gorton #2 via ups. i tried to blow through it just for kicks and i was not able to blow at all. i was holding the vent vertical and thank heaven i have healthy lungs. would anyone know if this is normal. thanks

not normal..
you should be able to blow thru it with ease..as if it was an open pipe..if your holding it vertical and its not blowing thru, then its a bad one.gwgillplumbingandheating.com

Wash it out first
with warm water. I have had a couple that somehow got dirty inside. Once washed out they were fine.

still cant blow
rinsed and soaked with warm water and still cant blow through. will bring it back to my supplier and have it exchanged0 -
Does it rattle?
Does your broken #2 rattle when you rotate it in your hand? I got two of them. One works and it rattles when I rotate it. The other doesn't work and it doesn't rattle. I don't have any useful suggestions for fixing it, but I am curious whether yours shows the same symptom as mine.0 -
good question
i called up gorton and their rep had the same question. it did NOT rattle at all. the rep said this is indicates that the float is stuck out of alignment. this also explains why i cant blow air through. i sent it back and should have another one soon.0
