    Need details.

    Why not enough heat?

Is boiler too smal to provide hot water and home heating at the same time?

Is the water heater and indirect-fired one, or something out of a coil?

When the hot water needs heat, does it have priority to get it?

Is the boiler set to the correct temperature?

Are the pipes large enough, and preferably insulated?

Is it a new system, or did it work last winter and stopped working this winter?

    Many more...

Jd, thanks . THe boiler is 3 years old and was working fine. The water in the shower is hot and the fades out to cold and then hot again. I did notive the water color some what muddy, reddish today.

    So something changed.

If the domestic water comes out muddy reddish, I would flush the hot water heater and see if the muddy reddish reccurs. This just might help with the problem, but I am not al lthat optimistic. Where did the muddy reddish come from? Impure water supply? Leak between the boiler water and the domestic water? Something else wrong with the boiler? etc.?
