Any recommendations on flushing and cleaning 35 steam radiators that have been completely disconnected from the steam piping system? They are being converted to hot water. Is it better to flush and clean them with trisodium phophate before repiping with hot water? There's about an 1/8 of an inch of red rust at the bottom of each one.

cleaning radiators
that rust may be plugging some leaks. why not connect them to a garden hose, with a gauge on it, and pressure them up to 30 psi, to see whether they will hold their water.--nbc0
