Oil burn rate for hot water?

Options
I'm worried that the oil burner in my apartment is using way too much oil for hot water, but I'm not sure how to judge that.  What's the standard range?

My partner and I are renting an apartment in Massachusetts that has an oil burner for both heat and hot water.  In the first 50 days since we moved in, the heat hasn't been on at all.  We've used hot water for: hand-washing dishes; one load of laundry a week; and 10-15 minutes per day for showers.  Our landlady had the oil company check the furnace, and she told us we've used 150+ gallons in 50 days just on hot water, or 3 gallons per day.  She agreed that seems crazy, and had the oil burner cleaned.  We haven't gotten another reading since then.  The oil company apparently told her 2 gallons per day is normal, which still seems shockingly high.

The burner is supposedly a tankless "Arcoliner Oil Fired Burner with Baffle, Model Number BT 12".

We appreciate any advice,

Noah

Well, that's why it's burning so much

the Arcoliner's efficiency leaves much to be desired, especially if it still has the original burner. If it needs to be serviced, it would use even more.

    Probably still too much.

It's hard to tell without specifics on the equipment an structure, but I generally don't see 3 gallons per day even with space heat.

    TANKLESS

Do you have a water tank near the boiler? That looks simular to water heater? If not you more than likely have a tankless coil in your boiler, very inefficient! Does your boiler stay around 160 to 180 degrees all the time, if so dead give away on the tankless!
