Static

Had a call today, the customer is tell me that when his boiler starts and stops , that static lines across their TV. I'll be going there tomorrow, my thoughts are that it may need grounding . Has anyone come across this problem.

My guess.
Recall that I am not a professional, but in a former life did electrical engineering.
I would suspect a problem with the high voltage associated with spark ignition.
I know how my boiler works, and everything in it is already grounded, both to the power panel and because the system is grounded through to the water supply by the piping in the feedwater system.0 -

If oil, I've found that ingition xformer will do that. May need to change it.

Viewing static 'lines' on a television
Cracked porcelains on ignitor(s) used to be an oft-found culprit. I wonder if your gas appliance has a ceramic igniter somewhere. There was an error rendering this rich post.
