Can you insulate the inside back panel of a radiator cabinet with 2 inch foam board. The cabinet is 24 x 60 x 6 inches deep. The heating element is located at the bottom of cabinet. Will this comprimse the effiency of the rad. I plan on insulating the walls around the rads with the same material.

insualting cabinet heaters
Usually insulation is a good thing, but not inside the cabinet. It will diminish the air flow and effect the output of the cabinet. If you can pull it out and insulate behind it, that would work but is usually impractical. A thin reflective layer will help radiate the heat back into the space, such as you see behind cast baseboard,0
