1 pipe steam

I have a 12 storey apartment building with 1 pipe steam, I have to replace the pipe work between the radiators and the risers. Originally it was 1 1/2" , I don't see a problem changing to 1 1/4" - does anyone else see a problem with this? All the run's are less than 8 FT from the riser to the radiator.

i wouldn't do that..
The old timers used 1 1/2'' for a reason..some engineer spec'd it out for a reason..i'm sure the engineer would have spec'd 1 1/4'' if the math worked out for it..but apparently it didn't..i'd chicken out and play it safe and put back what the old timers used. just my 2 cents.gwgillplumbingandheating.com
