Replacment Steam boiler

Hi I am replacing a steam boiler. I measured and counted the sections of the radiators and multiplied it by the sq' chart in the lost art of steam book. Then I multiplied that by 240 then 1.33 and came up with 44,000 btu's is that it do I get a 44k boiler??

Typically

you don't need to add the 1.33, since that is already built into the boiler's Net ratings. There are exceptions, such as more system piping then usual, but on the typical small residential system no extra capacity is needed.

Were all the radiator sections the same height and type? How many square feet EDR did you come up with? What boiler do you plan to use?

All the radiators were the same except the bathroom has a cast iron base board that to was in the book. I forget the sq foot calc but with the 1.33 factored in it was less than 44,000. I planed to go wit a burnham pin 3 a 3 section gas boiler

That must be a pretty small house

that converts to 183 square feet EDR.

Its a 2000 sq ft 2 family each bioler is doing about 1000 sq ft each
