my trap tester and trap gut sensitivity (GN)

I received my trap parts today.
I came up with a "tester" (pic)... and I expect I am not the first to scheme this little pot.
all the new traps seem to test fine. good news.
But I also bought Marsh trap guts (pic) to go into old trap bodies if needed. that is why i made the tester. I was not confident that they would work...and they don't unless they are calibrated perfectly. these seem very sensitive to the height of the little plunger on a brass spring (pic). It screws to change height. The diapragm does not move much i guess.
crazy for me to install these without testing them first.
I wonder if I could have picked a better guts product. maybe Barnes and Jones. Or I just need to be better about tuning the things.
any thoughts appreciated.
