Copper or Steel - last longer?

I'm quoting a job to drop dry steam returns down and make a wet return. I'm Ok with proper piping techique but I'm wondering if it's best to use copper or steel. I know from experience that steel will eventually corrode. The pipes will have a wall in front of them so the best I can do is install a cleanout on the end. Also, I can handle the expansion of the copper. Will copper last longer?
