just curious about the unlicensed aspect.
I did not see anything in the articles that mention that these folks were unlicensed.
Do you have additional information about that? I don't dispute you that there are plenty of unlicensed operators out there that don't work safely.
I see plenty of them in lots of trades. I also see licensed union guys doing things that would make you cringe.
Thanks for any clarification you can offer.

Shlomo Dahan
"Shlomo Dahans friends remember him as a skilled plumber, a dedicated scholar of the Torah, a humble man whose bearish frame belied his quiet demeanor but most of all as someone who rushed to help anyone in need."

Any of you guys know him? A terrible tragedy for a father and son to die like that.0 -
I never met him,
but I'll bet Moses or Kal knew him.
Tragic.Retired and loving it.0 -

very sad
It's a terrible tragedy and completely preventable. My heart goes out to the families of these 3 men.
Its sad that this scenario of multiple deaths in confined spaces is seen over and over again.

I don't understand...
...how a plumbing crew could enter a sewage sump without breathing apparatus and air testing equipment.

The ground gave way
and the son fell in and passed out. The father followed with a ladder and the same thing happened. Then the friend went down to help.

No Time to Think
The natural tendency would be to go in and help. Unfortunately you have but a few seconds before you too are a victim. This happened on a farm in Manawa Wisconsin in a manure pit about 15 years ago. Three died there also0 -
dangerous & totally unregulated
Unlicensed plumbers have no rules. sadly to say sewer & drain cleaners are usually not professionally trained and practice notoriosly dangerous methods of work. watching them them in action would scare anyone with any common sense.0 -
larry
I sent you a private note. no sense boring everyone with details. let them rest in peace. this goes on every single day. they just ran into some real bad luck. guys like this never learn.0 -
thanks
Bob,
Thanks for your private reply. I'm sure there are no shortage of unanswered questions surrounding this sad event. Licensed or not, it's a lousy way to go.

GET A GRIPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!
WOW - DO PEOPLE LIKE YOU REALLY EXIST OR ARE U JOKING
1)I've never met Shlomo Dahan although I have received some impressive advertising and based on his increasing fleet HE WAS BUILDING A FUTURE FOR THIS SONS(CHECK OUT U-TUBE - LOOKED LIKE HE KNEW ABOUT CONFINED SPACE)
2) I'd like to clarify that DRAINAGE CONTRACTORS HAVE PLENTY OF RULES AND MUST BE PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED. They spend $$200-350 thousand for EACH truck, pays $100,000+ a yr. for insurance(NYC), ARE LICENCED and TRAINED by so many agencys AND MUST log every employee, every mile, and every ounce of waste collected. COMMON SENSE IS CHILDRENS PLAY!
SEEMS THAT YOU NEED TO BE MORE INFORMED - MAYBE YOU SHOULD BLOGG ABOUT THIS INSTEAD OF ASKING EVERYONE FOR LESSONS ON PLUMBING! OH BY THE WAY - ASK YOUR WIFE HOW SHE WOULD COPE WITH LOSING YOU AND A SON IN SUCH AN ACCIDENT.0
