it seems as if you should try to keep what you have in the way of valves, and traps because of the pipe size on inlet and outlet. i have seen worse looking valve packing nuts, and yours should have no problem remaining leak-free, especially at the low pressure your system likes best [ounces]-nbc

Rad Valve Q: 1/2\" and 1\" on same valve (and on same trap).
I have a 1920s Illinois Eng Valve that was locked shut. I was able to dismantle and to my surprise fix the thing (I think).
Q1 anyone know where I can get an old original round cap like one in the pic?? Or similar. Mine is fairly busted up.
Q2. This one rad has this Valve with a 1/2" supply intake but a 1" out to the Rad. The WW 712HB Trap is just the reverse: 1/2" out and 1" intake.
anyone heard of such a thing?? supply houses seem to know just 1/2" on both sides.
I was considering replacing but now will go w/refurbish route.
thanks
