Modulating zone valve

Anyone have experience with modulating zone valves for baseboards? What are the pros and cons?

With an electronics PI thermostat that modulates the valve with 0-10Vdc we should be able to get a very acurate temperature and give better confort. I suppose that there would also be some savings on the heating bill because of less temperature fluctuations.

Is there any noise when the valve is partialy open and the water flows through?

Thanks,
Luc

Have you ever thought of a variable speed delta T circ?
That should look after every zone.
    Taco has them.

Edit-Sorry I forgot,, Wilo does too!

    Try \"Analog\"

    Have you checked TRV's ?

They are Modulating and do not require AC or DC power... the temperature can be held within a degree.

Auto Delta tee/Delta P circs or ODR can be a addition benefit.

Noise can be reduced with this setup because of low temp fluctuations.

    Good luck.. Richard.

Forgot to mention that I am looking at a retrofit application. The client finds that the actual valves are noisy, that baseboards makes to much noise when they start heating up, and that there are too much temperature fluctuations.

I figured that in theory a modulating valve with an electronic thermostat would solve these issues. Just wanted to know if anyone had any problems with them.
