Direct vent oil boilers

very many DV and power vented oil units are problematic. It's mostly a failure to install and setup per the manual. Many times a DV boiler is specified w/o thought to venting location and in many cases it's impossible to satisfy all the clearances.Unfortunately, the boiler is in the basement already,so in it goes, and you've seen the results.

    directvent ???

Why is it that most boiler manufactures seem to stop direct venting their oil boilers at around 166 to 203 mbh DOE heating capacity? And only sell their direct vent kits with the NX burner? Why couldn't you order a Riello BF burner instead? Is it just a paperwork issue and the fact that they don't want to pay to get a whole list of burners tested for direct vent application of their product?

    Just curious?

    How big

is the DV oil market? How many homes have have heat losses greater than 203K Btu? If there was a market and it was technically viable, then you'd see it. A DV oil boiler/burner and venting system is UL listed as a package,no deviation allowed. The NX is easily adaptable to outside air which all DV boilers need, comes post-purge capable at no extra cost which all DV jobs need as well. The Genisys control on the NX is state of the art in oil burner primaries and allows complete adjustment of all pre and post purge times to suit the application as well as providing troubleshooting data.
The burner manufacturers pay to develop an OEM application, not the boiler manufacturer.

    or

just save yourself alot of grief and put up a chimney. Just looked at one the other day soot 20 feet up the outside of the house several oil companies tried to make it work we are ripping it out. Plus 15 feet away is a deck and they can't sit out there because all you smell is what you think is a dump truck parked next to your house.

every home owner who has a side wall vent oil appliance curses out the guy who put it in. Think about how much marketing money you are going to need to do to overcome that.

    Riello

Riello makes a great residential burner. Installed one in my house 11 years ago and it it just keeps on purring away with minor maintenance.

My understanding is that Riello is not the easist manufactorur to deal with when it comes to packaging their burner with a new boiler.
