NYC Boiler Installations
Boiling Point
Member Posts: 9
If you are licensed to install a boiler in NYC oil/gas then you should already know about the recent changes to the Plumbing, Mechanical and Administration codes. However, you may not know of a recent change in interpretation and eventual enforcement within the mechanical code. The city "DOB" boiler inspectors after July 1, 2009 will be enforcing on first fire and test inspections, the ASME standard CSD-1 which includes on gravity steam boilers a probe, reset style low water cut-off ie; MM 750, Hydrolevel 550 and a mechanical type. This is a departure from what originally was, just a standard probe style and mechanical type.
Your perfect new installation will fail the first fire and test, if the secondary lwco is not a manual reset type.
