Furnace Recall? Consolidated

I've got a furnace that doesn't light up. Blower works.
Furnace located in my attic, suspended (horizontal). Repairman goes up into attic and tells me that the furnace is recalled and must be replaced. He says that its manufactured by Consolidated under the 'Premier' brand. He says that this has a recall associated with it due to fires.
Home was built in 1989 and is located in Southern California.
Installer gives me a quote on the cost of 2 new furnaces. Of course i double check the internet, and sure enough there is a recall out on many furnaces made by Consolidated.
As a sanity check, i jump up into the attic to inspect both units. Here's the information i pulled off of the units.
Manufactured by HQCO, Lavergne Tenn
Model #NHGI060KF03 (some additional #s beneath this read: 867 762 563)
Under the Consolidated recall, there are a bunch of brand names, none of which i can correlate with this HQCO unit.
Ultimately my questions is: Is this guy's diagnosis legit, or is he trying to sell me some units i don't need. Is there any way to verify this claim?
Ultimately too, i need to recognize that these furnaces are probably 20 years old by now.
Thoughts, suggestions?
Thanks
