    Panel Truck

It is styled like the panel trucks of the 50's. Reminds me of the bread delivery trucks.

Remember this Ford. I think it was discussed here a few months ago.

We looked at the ford at a trade show, it would be nice for a computer repair guy. Or a contractor that carrier ZERO parts. It's weight carring ability was sad. It was a nice looking truck, but no cargo capibilities.

    Nisssan VS. Ford

The Ford Transit is a compact trucklet that unfortunately won't have the high MPG diesel that it gets in Europe which makes me wonder what the point is of a vehicle that can't carry much and still isn't great on fuel

The Nissan is a full size vehicle based upon the Titan full size truck so it should have plenty of capacity.

    the Nissan with solar panels

on the roof to charge batteries, etc is a neat idea.

I like the version with the side that flips down for a work bench. A great job site office function also. Power rear step and many other contractor features. Sounds like a well thoughout truck.

Maybe a 40mpg diesel option, or hybrid with PV panel chargers on the roof will be available??

    Been looking for an alternative

My Sprinter get's great mileage but the body integrity is poor. Door problems, Paint problems, Rust spots showing up. Love the motor though. 20MPG is easy.

I use F-250's but seems like each new motor (diesel) gets worse mileage. The last three were all purchased new. The 1997 with the 7.3 averaged just under 19mpg over it's life with me, about 138,000 miles. Next was an 01 that chugged out a tad above 17 over 165,000. My current one is an 06 with the 6.0 that is getting me right on 15 over 87,000. The guys that have purchased the 08-09's with the new 6.4 report really crappy mileage in the 9-13mpg range. That's not acceptable so my next work truck/van will not be a Ford, at least not with that motor.

    Looks to me like

Ford invented a vehicle that's pretty much useless for it's target market, at least if it's targeted to HVAC, plumbing or electrical contractors.

    The Ford Transits

I saw in Europe were the same size and look as the Sprinters we see over here. I have heard that model will be coming this way.

I'd like a Sprinter V6 diesel in a pickup. Quiet, powerful, great on fuel. I can't believe the noise difference when parked next to my 6 oh Ford diesel.

    6.oh

As in OH I wish I never bought it. Less than 60,000 thousand and two failures. Talked to my mechanic after I bought it he yelled at me. Apparently the 6.fo was supposed to correct the problems with the 6.oh but it is worse. They don't put them in a van either because they cant lift the body off to work on the engine. Apparently this is necessary on the 6.fo . Talk about well thought out. I have been a Ford guy all my life but now that I can afford to by them new I don't think I want one. Our silverado with a duramax is a great truck. I will say that our ford van gives no problems other than maintanence.

    pickup

yup HR is right i can't believe that no one has put a smaller diesel in a 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck or even in somethig like a tacoma. they would sell all they could build at 25+mpg. same thing with SUV.

We have a Montero and you can get a 200hp Diesel in them in every other country but this 1 as usual your goverment won't let you have the good stuff. they won 4x4 of the year (again)in Australia but noooooo you can't have one.

VW is coming with Toureag v6 diesel since they did a deal for a minivan with dodge who knows v6 diesel dodge dakota???
