Munchkin condensate trap failure

I have seen this due to the boiler running but not condensing and subsequently overheating the trap material.

Peace

    Munchkin condensate trap failure

I have a T50 Munchkin running radiant ceilings and a Superstor 45 gallon indirect. It has been running fine for a number of years and received annual cleanings, though it is somewhat past due for this year's. Today I noticed that the white rubber condensate trap has failed, i.e. softened and split open, at the connection to the bottom of the boiler. (Actually, one of the two connections has split and the other feels like it is about to do so as well.) I have shut the boiler off for now, but I would like to know what I can do for a temporary fix until I get a new trap, since the boiler is the house hot water maker. Also, does anyone have any experience with this failure or care to speculate on the cause?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

    bad trap

I installed a new M199 and the trap was split right out the box. I found the trap split right at the barb inder the boiler. Fortunately, I mounted it on an aluminum pedestal. I was was able to cut an access hole to make the repair because you can't access the pinch clamp connection if it's sitting on the ground. I haven't installed one since but if I ever do, I'm sitting it on pedestal to have that access.
