Gerry, I have used Peachtree for 15+ yrs. It is more robust than
quickbooks. Quickbooks may be slightly easier to use but I have tried it alongside my PT software and I prefer PT. I just received my upgrade to 2010 premium and loaded it on my backup pc to test. Has some good attributes. I had not upgraded since 2006 version. I never upgrade every year. I do my own tax table upgrades so I don't get milked every year for that. The new version I think will finally allow me to put equipment on site under customers which I have wanted for yrs. If you go PT, use the premium version. More expensive but much more useable. Tim0 -
QB
I've been using QB for 13 years. Now I'm trying to graduate to a real industry related program that does more than an accounting program. If you have a small operation like under 3 or 5 guys, or if you're just new construction, the you're good with QB pr peachtree. If you do service, you need more. But, my hat is off, you are making a big step, way to go! If you go QB, let me know if you need some help. gary

Gerry- You may want to take a look at what "add on" programs related to the plumbing industry are available for Quickbooks and Peachtree. Try Googling - Quickbooks plumbing
A good industry specific "add on" further refines the basic accounting program and simplifies your daily tasks. Most of these software programs have trial periods so that you test them and see if the particular program is really beneficial to you.0 -
thanks Kool Rod.
i'll check into that.
