Triangle Tube Indirect

They make an HL-45 that can be installed horizontally that I have no experience with. My supplier has no literature on them and I can't find anything on the Internet; makes me and the homeowner a bit concerned even though I know Triangle Tube is an excellent company. Have any of you had any firsthand experience with servicing or installing them?

We want to install it under the house, on a concrete pad.

All the best,

Alan

    I thought you were retired!

I have a lot of TT tanks out there but none horizontal. Call Blackwood, N.J. and see what they say.

The only horizontal tanks I have used are V and Buderus, both with good results. Good luck, Alan.

    Horizontal

I haven't seen a horizontal TT tank either, but Crown sells some nice horizontal tanks also.

    They haven't

made the HL in some time, Alan, at least 8 years, anyway.

Had a discussion with the factory back then when I was looking for one. I used to put them in in the 90's. I had to watch the de-rated outputs vs. similar TR series.

I went with the LT Buderus tank.
  • That was the plan

until my stocks went south; actually, I have always wanted to do service and repair since I sold my business because I enjoy it so much, but the plummet in my net worth has made work less recreational and more dire.

As far as the indirect, the dimension of the crawlspace access is the driving force - 23". I've looked at Viessmann and Buderus and the smallest is 25" where the LT-45 is 22".

Bob: My supplier says he has one in stock; maybe he's had one all this time and maybe that's why there's no literature available.

Thanks, Bob. I had to look that one up.
  • I haven't seen an HL

in a good long time either . For the warantee replacements they give you a Smart for the HL nowadays .

We've used the HL in crawlspace installations . The tank has 2 mounting brackets on the back . You simply lay it down on the brackets and change out the dip tube to a special angled one . Bob is right , they had to be derated between 20 and 30 percent from the same tank installed horizontally .

Alan , did your supplier say he has HLs still in stock ?
  • In stock.

He said he had one in stock.

they had a white jacket that felt and looked like a big marshmallow? And toasted like one too if you got the torch too close :):)

I have actually seen more than a couple hung from ceilings (brrrr!)
