I need to know if steam convectors can be converted to hot water with no modification.

    yes

    pipe sizing might be different [ smaller ] . use bushings

    The convectors i see have round tanks on either end

    The modification

    may be done for you....... leaks.

    Remember that if you convert a steam system to hot-water, you will raise its working pressure 10 times or so. If there are any weak points in the piping or radiation, they will leak and possibly damage the building. Then will come the lawyers...............

    Also, the existing convectors may not be able to heat the building on hot-water. The building will not heat well on colder days, and then will come the lawyers.........

    And the return lines may not be big enough to handle the needed volume of hot-water. Again, the building won't heat well..........

    And, if these convectors have built-in orifices, they will whistle as the hot water tries to flow thru them. The customer won't be able to sleep, and then will come the lawyers.....

    Our company does not recommend or perform this type of conversion, and will not work on a system someone else has converted. There are just too many liability risks.
