Chimney cleaning > required or not

have it inspected, which would require equipment that the average home owner doesn't have. This will determine the chimney's condition and cleanliness.

As far as chimney contractors, I'd talk to people in your area and get recommendations.

Chimney cleaning > required or not

I am a HO and dont know if (I need chimney cleaning.

The house is built around 1920 and is in Northern NJ.Runs a oil boiler and am sure had coal fired furnace before.

The chimney from the outside looks ok.

Do I need a chimney cleaning?

If yes what all things the cleaner shall do?Steps?

How much shall I expect to pay?

    Lastly any recommendation?

    Thank you.

You can some of the best chimney inspectors in the country near you: www.gotofire.com for contact info. Bill Ryan, Mike Segerstrom or Paul Karthauser are all Certified Fireplace Inspectors and members of the International Association of Fireplace and Chimney Inspectors. They are imminently qualified to inspect your chimney and make recommendations. You want what's call a Level II inspection. HTH,

AJAY,being your boiler is oil fired when was the last time your boiler was cleaned by your oil company? Usually when you have your boiler serviced the servie tech will pull the smoke pipe and check your chimmies base to be sure the base is not loaded with soot and when they perform there eff, testing they will check the draft if they see there's promblems usually they will recommend for you to have your chimmey sweeped and checked to see if the clay liner is damaged.I also live in north jersey and formally did oil servie work the company i worked for used to recommended a company out ot rockland county they where very good in my eyes and did the work properly which can be hard to find these days HI TOR chimmey cleaners i would think they are still around hope this helps peae and good luck clammy
