Pilot Light
The Pilot light on my heating system will not stay lit. They system is a natural gas, baseborad type. I followed the instructions, but after trying to lite it, then holding the button in for a minute, I try turning the button/knob to the on position and the pilot light goes off. Any thing I can do to make it stay lit or any advice I can be given is much apperciated?
Thank you.0 -
pilotwont stay lite
you need a new thermocouple or power pile you dont say how old system is0 -
It could be as simple as the pilot orifice may need to be cleaned.0 -
get a pro in there
If your flue is blocked, the carbon dioxide can extinguish the pilot flame. Have a pro conduct combustion analysis, inspect the flue, and test for draft interference.

pilot light
I am just a homeowner. My pilot light did the same thing. Replacing the thermopile did not fix the problem - it turned out the 17 year old gas valve had failed.
The simple and safe solution is to call a pro. Check the "Find a pro" list and you may want to get a full system check/tune up while the pro is there anyway.0 -
