solar air systems

didn't want to hijack the good thread - solar space heating storage tanks - in which hr said:

"Or a solar hot air system if you want simple and inexpensive."

but it does remind me of the bunch of solar TAPs (Thermosiphoning Air Panels) that I built & installed back in the day - 30 yrs ago. the word then was that after direct passive gain, it was one of the most cost effective ways to garner solar heating btus. nowadays I'm all hydronically oriented, but I would like to be savvy about if/when simple air heating systems are good to consider.

anyone know of any solid info about current best designs, cost-effectiveness, comparison to hydronic systems, etc???

solar water heating obviously a good thing but nearly everyone wants to get into their heating load, too.

    Solar Wall

If there is a lot of ventilation air required for the building, Solar Wall is cost-effective. That's not usually the case in most residential housing, however.

This basic application of an air solar collector sits idle all summer, which hurts system efficiency.

It can be paired with a PV system, which is a win-win

There was an error rendering this rich post.
