    Power burner pricing

    Good day fellow Wallies

I've got a bit of an urgent matter. Last second issue with a client, (University), aiming to receive some infrastructure/stimulus cash from the government. They found out last minute and asked us in at the last minute to have a look at upgrades to the power plant. One item would be a new power burner, (existing is FuelMaster), on their Scotch Marine boiler. Boiler is 150HP (burner is 5,000 MBH). It's too late for me to get any pricing as I need to give them some raw amount tomorrow AM. All I need is rough budget pricing. Anyone have a lucky number?

    Or call the local reps

first thing in the morning. Gordon-Piatt and PowerFlame are two companies that build burners in that size.

I'm still looking from my end. Unfortunately I don't have any old pricing that I can try a sliding scale against. I checked the G-P website as well as Weishaupt just to see if they had anything at all - (not). I'll call in the AM but thought I'd toss this against The Wall to see what might come back.

We have a bunch of PowerFlames

on boilers up to 175 HP. The two biggest ones- C-3 or C-4 series, can't remember which- are full-modulation gas, with a 3:1 turndown, and they seem to do well. They can start off on full fire at 0 PSI and modulate down to low fire as low as 1 PSI- this is on a Webster Vapor system which loves lower pressures.

PowerFlame is located in Kansas, you might try calling there too.

When I talked to Weishaupt a few months ago in Canada

they had some largish full mod burners in stock, I think even with digital controls and O2 trim.

That is accurate Tim. For a burner that small, I think you can use a W series which is a nice packaged unit. Otherwise you'd be looking at a Monarch with external controls which are limitless.

Only thing about Weishaupt though is it is a different animal. Take everything you know about power burners and throw it out the window. Landis and Gyr flame safeguard can get confusing with the hieroglyphics it spits out.

I would recommend Gordon Piatt, its a good sound burner that is easy to set up. Powerflame (I call it Powerjunk) is a pretty low end product and don't expect to get the turndown ratios they publish. Other burners are Webster (which isn't half bad), and Industrial Combustion (junk0.
