allows users to see which choices impact energy efficiency in the structure and to what degree. The interactivity is on the right - select the building then explore....

    Empire State bldg goes green?

i read today in our omaha paper about the "greening up" scheduled for the Empire State bldg. total window replacement is planned, they didn't say anything about converting to hot water!!!! but maybe they will still consider moving their vaporstat up to the top floor and setting it for 1 ounce [would that work?]...--nbc

    Converting someting

They had an article in the Milwaukee paper regarding Johnson Service (building automation) winning a 20 million dollar contract to help the Empire State Building go green.

Johnson Service is based in Milwaukee so this was big news here also.

    Empire State Building Website

"The Empire State Building is well on its way to reducing energy consumption. Recently, the building has replaced 6400 original windows with aluminum, double-hung, thermopane windows; completed an award-winning lighting retrofit project (wherein more than 30,000 light fixtures were replaced with energy efficient equivalents without decreasing light levels. In some areas, light levels were actually enhanced); converted chiller plants to dual steam and electric usage; and upgraded water pumps with high-efficiency electric models." Go to the ESB website to read about what they are doing.

Here in Chicagoland, they are talking about making the " Big Williee" ( former Sears Tower) from black to silver coloring for 'green' movement.
