Interesting PUC Question

That doesn't say much for our confidence in the electric companies. They are float operated so the water can stay turned on all the time and it only uses water when the float is raised. That would only happen when the primary pump failed or electric was out. City water only (of course). It is said to pump 2 gallons for every gallon that it uses.

  • Anyone seen these things?

MY PUC approached me and tried to describe this verbally, so never seeing-one I was lost.
Apparently this was installed during ice-storm 98 and someone forgot to turn it off.
The water-bill was astronomical,,, I wonder why?

Reminds me of the old Penberthy Cellar Drainers, remember them?

    Never seen one before..

Other than the ones you can use fro draining a water bed,

The use of water powered equipment is illegal in the Denver Water district.

My dad used to work on a pair of water powered elevators at the Brown Palace in downtown Denver. He said they were connected to an artesian well...

Interesting stuff Dave, thanks for sharing.

There was an error rendering this rich post.

  • On second thought,,,

This lady is quite age-ed, and it was installed(presumably) by her now deceased hubby.
The sump pump crapped-out and this took-over,, of course undetected until the water bills came in.
Just imagine the mess she may have had without-it,, kinda rules-out the increase in water bills.

At least one insurance claim nixed! ;-)
