and ain't it the truth. I was justa called in on a similar situation. Water system, but similar. New boiler, massive bills, noise, cold house you name it. I did an independant review because the utility, installer, wholesaler all said..hey its the right size. Nothing wrong here must be the boiler..
My first step was to tell the owner I need to see the radiation, and whipped out my trusty tables and tape measure. He was flabergasted that I did not want the boiler..the boiler is the problem!! nobody touched the rads!!
I explained that the boiler is part of a "SYSTEM" and I need to examine the "SYSTEM" for a proper audit.
Well..the geniuses on this one put in a 200mbtuh boiler (based on the old one + some "insurance") for a home with about 43000 mbtuh of heating distribution capacity, replaced the "big honkin" pump as he put it with a TACO 007 to feed the old 2.5" pipes. no air purge, no protection, practically NOTHING in accordance with the IOM
all this in an 1400 sq ft house..and there must be a defect in the boiler...
yeah...
right...
There si a defect all right, and it was NOT the boiler..but the installer.
Great story..love all your articles. Keep up the good work.
