Engineer Referral in NYC

Looking for referral for engineer to consult on an old, low pressure, 2 pipe steam system in pre-war coop in NYC.
General review of system.
Please provide any referrals, references. Wish to avoid suppliers with vested interest in recos, e.g. plumbers, contractors.
Thanks!

    looking for steam expert

you really want someone with "hands on" knowlege like a steam pro. i doubt if there is an engineer with the practical experience you need. many problems we are trying to help people with have either been caused by unknowlegable plumbers, or by "engineers". these old systems can be astonishingly quiet, comfortable, and economical...in spite of what many people think!

you would benefit from a copy of "the lost art of steam heating" available here. also do a search for steam pros in your area from this site. posting some pictures of the present boiler, and radiators, with any mfgs's name on parts will get you closer to the solution of your problems, in a shorter space of time.--nbc

P.S. one thing you will not want is the opportunity for an engineer and an installer to each be pointing blaming fingers at the other, wile their other hands are in your pocket!

    I'm not an engineer.

But I know my way around a steam heating system.

You could do much worse than to call me.
