Paul, you need to meassure the amount of radiation. Any brand of tank will have a size chart, or they should.

Im a Ho so I know didly, but My tank was attic and with new boiler basement. Boiler over pressured until extra was installed. Extra meaning extra.0 -
That must be an old house. Sounds like a 60 is what's needed. It can't hurt to oversize the extrol tank, but undersizing, i'll bet you know the result0 -
So...
probably a gravity (now pumped?) system w/ large cast iron radiators and large iron pipes feeding them, (and formerly an open attic expansion tank) vs. a system w/ finned copper tube baseboards. A system like that holds a lot of water so needs a larger Extrol tank. Higher water temperatures and larger system volumes both lead to larger X-tank requirements. How big's the current tank (number or dia & height)?0
