Customer asked if it should be re-piped?
I really like the LWCO install,, also the condensate drain from the vent.
I have no idea what the purpose of the Grundfos is.
Thoughts?

Really strange
Looks like the Grundfos might be a part of an attempt to set up a bypass around the boiler. What controls its operation? Is it connected to what looks like an aquastat mounted at the top of the supply riser from the boiler?
Really love the condensate drain setup. The guy has quite an imagination!0 -

I agree with mike, looks like a bypass or shunt pump, probably retrofitted later on. Can you imagine what the inside of the boiler must look like! I have retrofitted a few up here where I connect supply and return of gravity system together with high flow/ low head pump then closely space tee in the boiler and let its pump cycle on aquastat, seems to work fairly well. Prefer installing new mod/con on these systems .0
