do you mean
a check valve? If it is a check valve could be a couple of reasons it chattering. We usually install spring checks and never have a problem. Is the pump you are running oversized?

Is there a bypass ?
I had the same problem a few weeks ago . With no working bypass , the water was flashing to steam in the 3/4 pipes . You could hear it sluicing at first , then the chattering of the Taco CI flowvalve .0 -
Flow control
Few questions..
Is there a by-pass on the savenger loop?
Is there an aquastat controlling temp?
Is there any air in the system?
Is the system clean?
My knee jerk response would say that there is air in the loop and the water is just too hot.
