New Pressure Reducing Valve Install (Steamhead and Gordo)
Steamhead (in transit)
Member Posts: 6,688
E-5 pressure reducing valve finally decided to quit. Since the incoming steam pressure from the local district steam grid was 35 psi and we wanted to run 2-3 psi downstream from the valve, just replacing the E-5 like for like was not the way to go, since the E-5 is designed for low differential pressure drops.
The condensing can on the side is to keep the steam from the valve's rubber diaphragm.

We Sized the Radiation Load
Attached to this zone and ran it through the Spence Sizing Program.
The 1 1/4" E-5 PRV was replaced with a 1/2" type E PRV.
...And it cooks along nicely at 2 psi.

reusing the condensate
if that is one of those systems where the condensate is thrown in the harbor, couldn't you use that condensate to make some hot water, or cook some eggs or something?--nbc0 -
Sure
If the customer will pay me to do it.

spence
Spence valves are nice, especially since they do not need an air station like Leslie GPK valves0
