loud thud in steam radiator...please help.
Loud thuds in one of our steam radiators are keeping us up all night. What could be the possible problem and solution?0 -
possible problems
first of all we need to know if this a 1-pipe or 2-pipe system. then we need to know if this is a new problem, or an old problem. causes could be:
pressure too high.
bad boiler piping.
dirty/oily water in boiler.
lack of proper main line venting.
improper pitch on the radiators,or their supplie lines.
defective, or shut off valve in 1-pipe systems.
with more information we could be very helpful with 600 man-years of steam experience. all problems can be solved to bring these systems to the original state of being quiet, economical, and comfortable.-nbc0
