Winterizing Boiler /System

Would like some advise on winterizing boiler and system in our summer cottage. I have a three zone FHW system (zone valves) including an indirect. In the past, I have bought and circulated anti-freeze through the system and then drained so nothing was in pipes. Waste of antifreeze I know, but safer. This year I bought a compressor for other work and was told I could use the compressor to blow-out the system and not have to purchase 6 gals. of anti-freeze anymore. Was wondering if anybody uses this method, what pressure do you blow out at?, basically how you do it, and any advice on making this a success (i.e., that is- no splits in Spring).
Thanks,

Charlie "O"

    Compressed air

will remove all of the water from the system EXCEPT the low point you cannot get to which will freeze and split...

Use the glycol and recover it in a drum, same drums it came in. Why dump it? Check for pH and freeze point, add new if you have to and be done. You may consider leaving glycol in it for all time assuming the system is tight. Residual glycol can be worse than none at all; it becomes corrosive and occassionally bacteria food. Aneaerobic bacteria that has that "who? me?" smell to it.
