base board heating
my boiler is not pushing the hot water heat to the second floor. i now have a bell & gossett circulator. is there a small pump i can install to increase the water pressure. i have been told to increase the size of my circulator. is there a small pump i can attach to my one inch pipe to increase the pressure (similar to Jet pump? i would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
thank you,

may be that the pump is sufficent for your needs
first consider pumping away and bleeding the air from the top floors first.0 -
Did it work before
If it worked before, and this is a new problem... Then the size of pump is not the problem.
If this is a new installation - and it has never worked since startup. The pump size might ( and I mean "might") be the problem. Lots of other problems in the system could be causing the pump from not working right.

The circulating pump does not "push" water to the second (or any) floor.
The water has already been lifted to the second floor by the static (closed) pressure of the system--typically 12 psi. The pressure gauge on/near your boiler should read very near 12.
The circulating pump merely circulates the water--it does not lift it! The circulator could not care what floor it's circulating through--all it cares about is how much effort it takes to circulate ALL of the water.
A very common cause of the problem you describe is that the system simply is not filled completely. Filling and purging air from systems isn't usually difficult, but there are many, many different situations. I'd suggest you call in a hydronic heating pro as it's likely high time for a complete system inspection.0 -
broken pipe in concrete floor
I lose water pressure from 12 lbs to 10 when i open the
water valves to heat the basement, which is radiant heat,
in a concrete floor.I ALSO hear the water running through
the furnace.Any ideas on pin pointing the leak for repair.

Are you sure its a leak in the floor, if you have not gotten all the air out you would loose some pressure and hear air as it made its way back to the boiler. I would isolate the basement zone and do an air pressure test first. While testing see if you hear any air escaping from connections outside of the floor ie manifolds etc.
Good Luck

Yes i did a water pressure test.I shut off main water feed
and water pressure dropped to zero.0 -
Well then time to send in the cat
turn on the floor and I'll bet Fluffy will find that leak in the floor, they just love the warmest spot in the room. Otherwise call a leak specialist they have listening deices to find those leaks in concrete.0
