I've got some...
...books on old tools and I'm sure this is in one of them. I'll need to go get the books though and get back to you. The tool is likely about 100 years old :~)

It is just as well they don't work, David
Somethings are better left as they originally are....
Cheers and Tools,

that is the original
proto type of the leatherman, it was only produced in limited quantities because it would not fit in your pocket,
eh I know, not that funny,
My guess would be it was a special combo tool made for maintenance people at a factory so they could quickly fix common problems on the line, it may have even been made by them, old factories would have lathes and men that could make anything, this would have been back when the U S actually made stuff, here in the U.S.of A.0 -
Reminds me of...........
the chastity belt my old girlfriend used to have. OUCH!0 -
Finally...
... found it! You have a "Millea's Emergency Tool", made by Universal Tool Co. Springfield MA. It is a combination wrench, wire cutter, pipe cutter and screwdriver. It was patented Feb. 10, 1903 by Thomas D Millea.0 -
Every Time I hear that term
Can't help but think of that scene in "Men in Tights", where the Villian is trying to break through a chastity belt with a pneumatic demo hammer.........
