gas line pressure test

is acceptable. small allowances can be considered for temp changes but only if the system is very large. You do not mention class of system - but 25 psi for 30 minutes with zero loss would be OK - it depends on working pressures and volume of system. Check with your local gas inspector - and yes - regardless of test - soap every joint too.

gas line pressure test
I just extended a fuel gas line that lost pressure at the rate of 5 kPa per 30 minuits. The pressure in the B.I./CSST system was 260 kPa (about 38 psi). Is this acceptable? The fuel is to be propane. I pressurized the system w/nitrogen. I've heard that "bubble solutions" are corrosive. Should I bubbletest the joints?
Thanks

test
The pressure loss you had indicated a leak that must be found andfixed. What pressure is the system to be operated at? The usual propane pressure is 11" water col. 8.4.1.2 in the US Nat. Fuel gas code says min. 1 1/2times working pressure but no less than 3# or 20kPa. if for some reason this is the new underground product then 15# would be the min. 99% of csst leaks are at the fittings so a soap test would show the leak. If a commercial leak soap like from HI side chem for AC work is used it won't corrode, but still a good idea to flush with clean water. Or, if the pipe is charged with LP a modern leak detector will find the smallest leaks.0 -
I'll bet...
You'll find the leaks at the junction of the CSST pipe and its fittings. Been there, done that....and got factory trained to make sure it doesn't happen again.
As stated, other than temperature loss, anything lost is unacceptable and should be addressed. Chris0
