Auction to send Alan to Ish!

The Metal Worker a weekly journal of the roofing ,cornice, tin plumbing and heating trades.

this is an 84 page weekly full of great adverts, diagrams on range heating , lots of steam pics lots of great articles!

It is in good condition except that the cover is separting from the interior pages.

Common flameheads I rememember when Alan first brought us Oil Tech Talk in 98 and then the wholesalers couldn't tell us any more "you are the only one that's having a problem"!

I'll let Dan run this auction. He will send me an email when he has the money . I will send the magazine , insured.

    Lets start at $40.00

    All the best

    Robert

    Thanks, Chad.

Anyone like to top that? These old magazines are gorgeous. Puts a lot into perspective, and they're rare, especially from that era.

Thanks for showing Alan the love. ;-)

    Provenance

I did some work for an old timer (85 or so) 17 years ago in Winterport Maine. He gave me a few of these " so that I would know how far the trade has come".

I still have em. i did give one to my mentor and one to a close friend that runs an original range stove and boiler in his house.

    All the best

    \" The Letter Box\"

Has a letter from a " furnaceman " who doesn't trust the manufacturers ratings of furnaces as he compares the duct sizing reccomended to the rating.

He goes on to say that " they will send a man down to figure the job for you..... and if you are an old timer you will soon find out you don't know anything. It seems that it will be but a short time before a boy to learn this trade will have to be a college graduate."

    off to work

I hope I don't miss out on the end of this auction..I have no internet access during the day at work. Most auctions have some sort of end time? Any Idea?

    Thanks for the auction!

    I'm thinking

A yearly subscription for the issue was less then a buck..and that included postage (or was there postage back than)

110 dollars for one issue is a really good profit:)

    I have an idea.

I also have a very early copy of The Metal Worker. How about if both you and Jeff win?

Robert sends his copy to you, and I send my copy to Jeff.

    Deal, guys?

Bless you both for appreciating our friend, Alan.

Yes, Thanks everyone. I can’t believe this. 2 auctions and the many other donations being made and all within a weeks time. I don’t mind telling you there’s a few tears of joy running down my cheek. Thank you all again for your friendships and your kindness.
