automatic damper vent malfuntction

this morning the boiler (utica steam) was not running. went down to check it out. there was an electrical "hum" coming from the auto vent damper motor and it was not opening, thereby preventing the boiler from turning on. i toggled the switch from auto to manual and it opened and the heat came on. then i toggled it back to auto. i checked it a few times since then and it seems to be OK. do you think the motor is bad and that it will happen again? does the whole thing need replacing or is it an individual parts type of fix? any thoughts?

Damper malfunction
Hello Dave,
I had a flakey Field Control damper that I fixed by carefully mating the wiring harness with the control board receptacle by re-positioning the clamp and bracket. You can check these threads for a little more detail.
Good luck,
Dave
