Sounds like it's time to clean the probe on the low water cut off. That's the part that's inserted into the boiler. Inspect for any cracks.

Today i noticed my steam boiler has more water than last time. about 1/2 inch more on sight glass. its been warm here lately so the boiler hasnt really kicked on much. is is possibe it can take a while for the water to return since it hasnt really been on much. its pretty much on the level when i last gave it water. how long can water returning to boiler should take?0 -
I noticed today that when i removed water the low water cutoff kicked on, light turned red and fed water, it was already 2/3 full. any advice pls0 -
Get a pro to look it over. could be clogger site glasscocks. If it is float type LWCO it will kick on if you flush it out. the piping to that could be particially clogged.Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.
